Personality
First Impression (others have of you): The first impression of Severus is usually of a thin, scowling man with lank, greasy black hair, a hooked nose and cold black eyes. He almost radiates an air of menace and disapproval. Anyone spending a little more time in his presence will further find out his personality is unpleasant, sarcastic, unforgiving and sometimes downright nasty. Few linger long enough to find out more.
General Behaviour: Rude, caustic, sarcastic and sardonic to almost everyone. Those who have power over him will be greeted with a bit more in the way of politeness. Those he considers friends (though he would never openly acknowledge that) are still treated more or less the same but there will be a hint of humour in it and he won't mean some of it.
Strengths: Other than the obvious – his skills in potion-making – he is stubborn, tenacious and focussed. He is also remarkably courageous, though he would sneer at being labelled with such a Gryffindorish trait.
Weaknesses: His stubbornness is as much a weakness as a strength since he will hang onto grudges long past the time when most people would put them aside. He allows his temper to get the better of him from time to time and he has a tendency to make assumptions about people and then cling to them even in the face of evidence against those assumptions.
Habits: He prefers to think on his feet thus can often be found stalking around a room/corridor/etc.

Family History: Severus' mother, Eileen Prince was a witch of moderate ability and very unprepossessing appearance, being thin with heavy brows and long, pallid face and cross, sullen expression. After graduating from Hogwarts, she married a Muggle named Tobias Snape, a sullen, hook-nosed man, who was utterly indifferent to his wife's unusual abilities. When his life took a turn for the worse, he blamed his failings on his wife and later his son. Severus eventually learned that hiding was preferable to becoming a target for his father and his vague angry thoughts of revenge led to his interest in the Dark Arts.

Close Friendships: Severus would never admit to having friends but in better times they would have included Albus Dumbledore and Minerva McGonagall. Now Draco Malfoy could be considered a friend, not that he would admit to it.
Known Enemies: Far too many to count. Severus' basic assumption is that everyone is his enemy until they prove otherwise
Sexual Preference: Bisexual though that's more academic than actual – he steers clear of serious relationships, viewing them as dangerous in his current role.
